Abstract Metro Photos- Series 14

I haven’t posted my abstract metro series of photos since last May. I’ve collected dozens of new ones since then and showing them off today. There’s humor in some of the images along with a few oddballs. There's an artists reference caption below. 

In my Malta Doors post the other day, I asked if anyone knew why the doors had gates on them. Two blog readers responded they were to keep goats from entering the house. Thanks for the information.

May in Paris- My Marais Apartment for Rent May 12 to May 23

I am renting my Marais loft from  May 12 to May 23. May is one of the nicest months in Paris, with temperatures in the low 70s Fahrenheit during the day and low 60s at night. All the gardens and flowers are in bloom, the outdoor cafes bustling, and lots of cultural events. 

Minimum rental period is 7 days/one week, price 1500€ for 7 days/one week,1900€ for 11 days-May 12-23. 

Conveniently located by the Saint Paul metro, in the heart of the Marais, the apartment is a spacious one-bedroom 750 sq. ft. loft  with 12 ft. ceilings, decorated in chic Mid-Century Modern furniture and sleeps two people in a Queen size bed. Amenities include washer/dryer, 16" flat screen TV, dishwasher, internet connection/Wifi and free long distance calls to the U.S.  The apartment is located on the second floor with a large elevator

Abstract Metro Photos Series 12

This is the 12^th edition of my Abstract Metro Photos. My first series was in August of 2014, almost five years ago. (Click here to see first series). I’ve included a series in both of my photos exhibits. The series has evolved since then and I would like to have your feedback from the first series and this series. 

August in Paris- My Marais Apartment for Rent August 16 to August 29 

I am renting my Marais loft from August 16 to August 29 (Dates are flexible). Contrary to popular myth that Paris is closed in August, most shops, restaurants, and attractions are open in Paris, especially in the Marais. The weather is usually beautiful, temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit during the day, dropping into the mid 60s at night. In case in gets warmer, I have an air conditioner in the bedroom and a large fan in the living area. 

Minimum rental period is 7 days/one week, price 1500€ for 7 days/one week, 2900€ for 14 days/2 weeks.

Abstract Metro Photos Series 11

I’ve become more obsessed with my abstract metro photos in the last months. I find myself spontaneously jumping off the metro after I’ve spotted potential posters worth shooting, often getting off nowhere near my final destination.

Last week, while boarding the metro at the Lamarck-Cauliancourt station in Montmartre, I found the mother lode, a series of the most unique posters I have uncovered in a long time. I don’t know what exactly it was, but there was a richness and texture in these that made me go gaga, spending over 30 minutes snapping away.

I’ve been riding the rails of the Paris metro constantly in the past few months and have gathered a great new series of my Abstract Metro Photos.

I’ve moved away from photographing the seats, as I feel I have exhausted that series and the images were becoming repetitive. These photos focus more on the posters, especially the torn ones.

New! Eye Prefer Paris Cooking Classes
I am happy to announce the launch of Eye Prefer Paris Cooking Classes. Come take an ethnic culinary journey with me and chef and caterer Charlotte Puckette, co-author of the bestseller The Ethnic Paris Cookbook (with Olivia Kiang-Snaije). First we will shop at a Paris green-market for the freshest ingredients and then return to Charlotte's professional kitchen near the Eiffel Tower to cook a three-course lunch. After, we will indulge in the delicious feast we prepared along with hand-selected wines.

Abstract Metro Photos-Opera

The RATP, the organization that runs the bus and metro services in Paris, is doing a major overhaul of the metro system and the ambitious project will last till 2030. Many metro stations are being renovated and updated with new lighting designs, sleeker platforms and new seats.

The Opera station for line 7 looks like it’s about to be renovated. I noticed all the posters on the platform had been stripped, usually a sign that the station will be renovated. For anyone else it’s no big deal and would probably not even notice, but for me it was hitting the jackpot. As you know for the past four years I’ve been astutely taking photos in the metro and I am always looking for new posters or stripped down walls.

The frames at the Opera stop provided a rich photographic opportunity with fragments of color, cement, typeface, faces and graffiti and below are the results. Some almost look like maps or even abstract paintings.
