Last week in the February 2022 Eye Need to Do’s, I wrote about the Yves Saint Laurent in Museums, an unprecedented exhibition at six museums across Paris, Centre Pompidou, the Louvre, Paris Museum of Modern Art, the Musée d’Orsay, the Musée National Picasso-Paris, and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the first couture collection Saint Laurent launched on January 29, 1962. In an unprecedented blog event, I will be posting all week about the various Saint Laurent exhibitions at each museum.
Today is about the exhibition at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent, which is the former atelier and showroom of the world’s greatest fashion designer.
Interestingly enough the exhibition hardly featured any clothes; it focused more on Saint Laurent’s process by showing drawings and sketches, photos, videos, and materials.
One of my favorite parts of the museum is Saint Laurent’s atelier on the top floor which still has bolts of fabric, sketches, personal objects and photos, trays of buttons, gloves, jewelry and accessories, sketches, and sketchpads.
