In late September a tour client and her friends invited me to their hotel down the street from the d’Orsay Museum for an after-dinner drink. I left about 9:45 pm to return home. It was a lovely, balmy night and instead of taking the metro home, I decided it was too lovely outside to go underground. I strolled along the Quai d”Orsay and Quai de Voltaire, admiring the beautifully lit, grand buildings, and boats gliding on the Seine. I walked all the way to the Louvre, snapping photos along the way, until I finally caved and took the metro home three stops.
