In many neighborhoods of Paris, there are private, gated streets and cul de sacs. Usually, they are made up of large, attached individual homes and are a mélange of architectural styles, not only Haussmmanian style buildings.
I was in the 16th arrondissement running an errand last week. After exiting the rue de la Pompe metro station, I walked on rue de La Tour and noticed an ornate wrought iron gate with Villa Guibert on it. I also saw the gate was open, and I discreetly slipped inside, discovering a row of houses constructed of limestone and brick with beautifully detailed doors, gardens with trees, plants, and flowers beginning their spring blooms and handsome architectural details and flourishes.
Villa Guibert was built in 1895 and is named after Maurice Guibert, a photographer who was close friends with Toulouse-Lautrec, whom he photographed and who lived in his home for a period of time.
