I love paper and stationery shops and so do the French, and we are blessed with such an abundance of them in Paris.
I discovered one last month with really fun, inventive, and colorful products, Papier Tigre, located in the northern Marais just off of rue de Bretagne.
The company was founded in 2012 by Maxime Brenon and Julien Crespel and now has a team of 13 employees. On their website they say, “With every collection, we strive to make Papier Tigre more local, environmentally responsible and transparent.” In September 2019 they introduced a one-of-a-kind bespoke service for creating your own personalized notebooks, where you can select the covers, binding, and page formatting for either writing, drawing, or project management. All the products are designed in their studio just across the street from the shop and many of them are produced there too. Most of their items are made with upcycled paper regional waste.
Before I moved to Paris, I would visit frequently and, on every trip, there was a mandatory pit stop at Muji, the Japanese stationery, clothing and home shop, in the Marais. I would almost lose control and I would fill a suitcase with their inexpensive stationary products and cart them back to New York. I overbought so much, that to this day, I still have things I haven’t used yet.
So, when I entered Papier Tigre, I had to exorcise the stationery devil on the spot, so I wouldn’t buy out the shop.
I loved the cover designs of the notebooks, diaries, and folders which have strong geometric shapes mixed with abstract forms. If you want a truly unique greeting card, Papier Tigre designs a line of hexagon shaped cards with bold patterns and colors. For pencil people, they have pencils with two tone outsides in color combinations of teal blue and tomato red, slate gray and chartreuse, and salmon pink and navy blue.
Papier Tigre ships worldwide.

I am thrilled to launch my Emily in Paris Video Tour today. The video stars moi and is directed and filmed by my partner Vincent Gagliostro. In the almost 25-minute video you get to experience seeing many of the locations where the show was shot, the fascinating history of them, and you will receive insider scoops about Paris. An added bonus is you can watch my onscreen singing debut in the video, singing a verse from a classic French song.
The price to watch the video is $12. Click here to send $12 to my Paypal account, and after I receive your payment, I will then send you the link to watch it. I request that you don’t share the link with anyone else. Please note that any order received after 10pm Paris time, I will send the link to the video the next morning.
