Betty Cartoux/Yves Saint-Laurent: Feminine Singular
Sometimes called Saint Laurent’s “female double”, Betty Cartoux embodied his ideal of the perfect woman to wear his clothes. A longtime muse of Saint Laurent, she met him in a nightclub in 1967. Cartoux went on to be a fashion icon, photographed by Helmut Newton, Irving Penn, and Steven Meisel. The exhibit features approximately 50 YSL garments from Cartoux’s personal wardrobe and is curated by Anthony Vaccarello, the current artistic director of Saint Laurent.
