In an expansive exhibition with over 600 objects including paintings, sculptures, costumes, objets d’art, and furniture, the Petit Palais explores the romantic period of Paris, from the fall of Napoleon to the revolution of 1848.

Rousseau: The Village Soothsayer 

Did you know Marie Antoinette was an actress? She performed in costume with the Troupe du Seigneurs, a band of actors, as the heroin of a one-act opera “The Village Soothsayer” by philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In a rare occasion, the opera is being revived at the Marie Antoinette Theatre at the Petite Trianon for two performances. Dinner will be catered by Waldorf Astoria Trianon Palace.

Berthe Morisot

Known as the only female painter of the Impressionists alongside, her male counterparts Monet, Degas and Renoir, Berthe Morisot took her place as a master painter of the late 1800s.

Dora Maar 

The mystery of the muse of Picasso, Dora Maar, is revealed in a new show at the Pompidou. Maar was a photographer and the exhibition features never before seen work including her forays in to fashion, surrealism, and portraiture.

August in Paris- My Marais Apartment for Rent August 16 to August 29 

I am renting my Marais loft from August 16 to August 29 (Dates are flexible). Contrary to popular myth that Paris is closed in August, most shops, restaurants, and attractions are open in Paris, especially in the Marais. The weather is usually beautiful, temperatures in the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit during the day, dropping into the mid 60s at night. In case in gets warmer, I have an air conditioner in the bedroom and a large fan in the living area. 

Minimum rental period is 7 days/one week, price 1500€ for 7 days/one week, 2900€ for 14 days/2 weeks. 

Conveniently located by the Saint Paul metro, in the heart of the Marais, the apartment is a spacious one-bedroom 750 sq. ft. loft  with 12 ft. ceilings, decorated in chic Mid-Century Modern furniture and sleeps two people in a Queen size bed. Amenities include washer/dryer, 16" flat screen TV, dishwasher, internet connection/Wifi and free long distance calls to the U.S.  The apartment is located on the second floor with a large elevator

Shadow and Reflection Photos

During the heat wave last week, I tried to stay as cool as possible while I was on the streets. On the rue de Rivoli, with its covered walkway, I was able to escape the burning sun and soaring temperatures in the 90s for a few minutes. Along the way I noticed the street lanterns cast a shadow on the sidewalk and on the mosaic tiles near the Tuileries. I also captured the shadows of the intricate gates at the Louvre.  I then went through all my photos and found some other shadow photos. When visiting Montmartre on a super bright day, the stained glass windows threw off a collage of lights on the floor.
