This was the first time in six years I haven’t traveled on my birthday-January 26th- and also the first time Vincent has not been with me, as he was in New York finishing his film.
I decided it would be a good occasion to gather mutual friends for lunch to honor Lynn and celebrate my big day.
I chose Le Reminet, for a myriad of reasons. It was the first restaurant we ever went to for Lunch with Lynn, it was also where we had our fifth anniversary lunch and it was a favorite of many of the people I invited.
We were eight people: Michele, Daniel and Jerry, Mary, Bill, Rebecca and Meredith. All of us had close relationships with Lynn and Bill had known her for 43 years.
We ordered Champagne and wine and I made a toast to Lynn, wishing she was with us and hoped she was toasting with us from heaven with a glass of Champagne in her hand.
Some of us had not seen each other in a long time and it was great having everyone catch up on what was new in their lives in the cozy atmosphere of Le Reminet.
The lunch menu was a soothing artichoke soup, pan-fried sea bass with winter vegetables and apple tart for dessert with a single candle on top.
After lunch, Rebecca invited us to her apartment for yet some more Champagne.
A special birthday indeed.
