Last year, after much controversy and arguments for both sides, the love locks on the Pont des Arts were removed. Some residents were relieved and saw the locks as tourist blight ruining the architecture of the city and others, with a romantic side to them, missed the expressions of love.
After the locks were removed they were replaced with plexiglass panels. Whether you liked them or not, the locks gave the bridge a visual focal point and the plexiglass made it look bland and antiseptic. The city tried sprucing up the panels with some bad faux graffiti, which made it worse.
On May 25th, a series of sculptures named The Enchanted Footbridge by sculptor Daniel Hourde were installed on the Pont des Arts. Running through December 6, 2016, the series consists of seven pedestals, eight statues and 10 reflective metal trees.
I believe the sculptures will cause controversy again, as they have some strong and perhaps unsettling imagery. As I was photographing the sculptures, people were commenting and expressing their negative and positive viewpoints.
Would love to know your viewpoint. What do you think, yay or nay, or something in between?

I can't say the sculptures are my taste, but I like seeing art in public. Some of them might grow on me.
Alan Cummings! He's so wonderful! Congratulations!!!

They seem very agressive and unpleasant...maybe a reflection of the time, but a missed opportunity to offer peace and beauty. Meanwhile congrats and best wishes on th film
