I met the delightful Jill Colonna last month at a cocktail party. What delighted me most about her besides her bubbling personality was she is the author of two books on French pastry, Teatime in Paris!, her latest, and Mad About Macarons!.
Teatime in Paris! A Walk Through Easy French Patisserie Recipes is a comprehensive book about Parisian pastries and tea. Through whimsical illustrations and appealing photos, Jill maps out the top patisserie streets in Paris. Jill also shows you how to easily make and bake classic French pastries step by step such as teacakes, eclairs, cream puffs, macarons, and tartlets. Come take a sweet ride of Parisian patisserie with Jill.
Mad about Macarons: Make Macarons like the French was ahead of the macaron curve when it was published in 2010, before the mad dash into the U.S. market. Readers and reviewers have raved that this is one of the few books where the recipes actually work, as macarons are tricky to make. Thirty-seven recipes include classic flavors such as rose and pistachio but also exotic flavors such as Thai green curry, pistachio-wasabi, sticky toffee, and chocolate- beetroot. Recommendations for beverage pairings plus decorative ideas for gifts, holidays, weddings, and children’s parties are also included.
Jill also writes a scrumptious blog where she shares her travels and dessert recipes. Her last dessert recipe Upside-Down Dark Chocolate, Coffee, and Pear Cake made me swoon and want to run into the kitchen to make immediately.

I have just returned from 2 September weeks renting a splendid apartment and enjoying our sixth vacation in Paris. Your blog brings a smile to my emailbox every morning. Thank you!! I will head over to the bookstore to check out Jill's two books. I loved how our daily morning conversation in Paris revolved around which patisserie that I was going to get the croissants from. And now as I sit here with my cup of Earl Grey tea, I cannot remember ever having been in a patisserie that was not just splendid. I continually marvel at the simplicity, the complexity and the beauty of the baker's works of art!

Love the "lazy gourmet" moniker! Wish I had been first to comment, but was lazily creating breakfast here in the U.S. :)

I’m from Maryland, USA and I’m a big fan of her first book. It taught me how to master macarons and I was only a beginner!
