The Volvo Ocean Race is one of the toughest sporting challenges known to man a nine-leg race, visiting 11 cities, nine months of racing across five oceans and over 38,000 miles. But here’s the twist: SCA, a Swedish hygiene company, is sponsoring a female crew, the first time in its history.
Over 250 female athletes from across the globe applied for the coveted crew, and the final squad includes 14 athletes (11 crew members) from Great Britain, USA, Switzerland, Australia, and The Netherlands. Team SCA represents one of the best female sailing expeditions including Olympic racing and around the world solo races. The race starts today, October 10 in Alicante, Spain and the finish line in June 2015 is in Gothenburg, Sweden. One of the stops is Lorient, France a seaport in northwest Brittany. Each team member has an assigned role such as trimmers, helming, on the bow, in the pit or navigating but each has to be flexible and multi-task when need be. It’s not just one race but rather nine legs/races.

My Paris Apartment for Rent
I am renting my fabulous Paris apartment in the heart of the Marais near St. Paul metro, from November 30 to December 16, a total of 17 nights. It's a spacious one-bedroom 750 sq. ft. loft style apartment with 12 ft. ceilings, decorated in chic Mid-Century Modern furniture and sleeps two people in a Queen size bed. Amenities include washer/dryer, 16" flat screen TV, dishwasher, internet connection/Wifi and free long distance calls to the U.S. The apartment is located on the second floor with a large elevator.

New! Eye Prefer Paris Cooking Classes
I am happy to announce the launch of Eye Prefer Paris Cooking Classes. Come take an ethnic culinary journey with me and chef and caterer Charlotte Puckette, co-author of the bestseller The Ethnic Paris Cookbook (with Olivia Kiang-Snaije). First we will shop at a Paris green-market for the freshest ingredients and then return to Charlotte's professional kitchen near the Eiffel Tower to cook a three-course lunch. After, we will indulge in the delicious feast we prepared along with hand-selected wines.

Time: 9:30AM- 2PM (approximately 4 1/2 hours)
Location: We will meet by a metro station close to the market

Now I don't know who to cheer for: VESTAS or SCA? First team as I am Danish like the sponsoring company, SCA for supporting female sailors being a sailor too (and female).
What they are undertaking is hard work - but an experience that will stay with them for a life time.....
Oh well can just keep an eye out for both teams I guess
