The weather in the first two weeks of December was unseasonably warm and sunny, with temperatures in the mid-40s. As I was working on my computer one day, I looked out the window at the same view I have looked at since 2006 but suddenly saw the sunlight hitting the rooftops with the terracotta chimneys in such a brilliant way I had never noticed before. It’s interesting how you can see the same thing almost everyday but yet make new discoveries.
I was walking on rue de Fourcy around the corner from me in December too, a street I have walked on thousands of times, and looked up to see a dramatic mix of sunshine and dark clouds hitting the buildings in a way I had not seen before. I always say if you really want to discover Paris, just look up while you are walking (also make sure you look down so you won’t step in dog poop) and you never know what you will find.
There are also some rooftop photos taken from the courtyard of a building I was in back in October.
I am pleased as punch to announce the launch of Eye Prefer Paris Tours, which are 3-hour walking tours I will personally be leading. The Eye Prefer Paris Tour includes many of the places I have written about such as small museums & galleries, restaurants, cafes & food markets, secret addresses, fashion & home boutiques, parks, and much more.
Tours cost 210 euros for up to 3 people, and 70 euros for each additional person. I look forward to meeting you on my tours and it will be my pleasure and delight to show you my insiders Paris.
