The 16th arr. is similar to upper Park or Fifth Ave. in New York. I lived mostly downtown in New York and would only go to Fifth Ave. or Park Ave. when I had an appointment or event to go to and it’s pretty much the same for the 16th arr. I guess you would say I am a Downtown sort of guy, as the Marais is the downtown of Paris.
I was in the 16th a few weeks ago for an art event and while walking towards the Ave. Foch, one of the most exclusive residential streets in Paris, I discovered two doors. One is glass and wrought iron with ornate flower detailing from a classic Haussmannian building and the other a towering light wood door with beautifully detailed knockers.
