This door caught my eye a few weeks ago as I was walking along the river in the 7th arr. I’ve passed the building many times before and loved the Art Deco exterior. The doors seemed extra alluring and seductive at night with a golden hue behind the panes of frosted glass.
Architect Leon Azema, a graduate of the Beaux Arts School, designed the building in 1930. Azema was prominent in the early to mid-twentieth century and was appointed Architect of the City of Paris in 1928 and in 1937 won the competition, along with Jacques Carlu and Louis-Hippolyte Boileau to build the Palais de Chaillot.
