This is brilliant, Richard. Just brilliant. I chuckled my way through all of these, and could not agree more. Two additional thoughts. The Seine at night sleaziness could have been been clearer because with all the prostitution and drugs down there on the banks at night, it is a dangerous place. Hell, not so wonderful during the day for that matter. And at Les Halles those two same features apply...lots of hustlers and druggies. Not pretty. Cutting through that way from Le Pompidou Center back towards the river is an eye opening experience to say the least even during the day. I could not imagine walking that route at night.

I totally agree with everything on the list and have a few of my own to include about some of the horrific eating places around Quartier Latin where waiters ‘’pimp’’ their shameful food; equally some of the tourist traps around Montmartre; but they are pretty obvious to travelers.

Great blog....Love the list of do's and don'ts....xv

Along the same lines, you would not go into a stranger's house and begin touching their stuff. In Parisian clothes boutiques, this is also often the case.
