I was at an event for Yelp! the other night that had many small Paris food vendors hawking their wares with free samples of their various foods. I was hungry as it was near dinner time and I ravaged for food samples much like a pig snouting for truffles.
A lovely American girl Lindsey Tramuta came up to me and said I know you, you are Richard from Eye Prefer Paris. I was flattered that she knew who I was and basked in my 2 seconds of fame. She had a bag on her side and offered me a chocolate chip cookie, which I gladly took. We chatted for a while and she told me she had started an American-style baking company with a friend Chloe Radojkovic, Lola's Cookies, which makes cookies and brownies. Suddenly I had a bolt of lightning moment- why don't I get some samples of her other desserts since I hadn't come up with my Dessert of the Month yet. I told Lindsey the idea and she was happy to oblige. The products are made to order, so she said it would take a few days to deliver them. I asked for just one or two samples of her favorites. Lindsey kindly delivered them in person last Sunday to my apartment. She took out a big white cake box and inside were two brownies, two double chocolate chip, two Snickerdoodles, two white chocolate lemon cashew and one peanut butter chunk. Not exactly a small sampling. Now you all know that I have to be very careful with my sugar intake and this was major trouble in the making. Truth be told I had two cookies right away which were excellent.Even though their bestseller is the chocolate chip cookie, Lindsey said she thought the brownie was the best product and she was right: dark, rich, and smooth with maybe a little peanut butter? with an after tinge of salt. Just the way I love my brownies. I am trying my best to save the other samples for Vincent but believe me I need more willpower than Lindsay Lohan needs staying out of jail.
Lola's Cookies are named after Chloe's dog whos spirits were lifted every time she baked a batch of cookies, so Lola her French Bulldog was her inspiration to share her cookies and brownies with the world. Right now Lola's Cookies are only available to order online and delivered within Paris, but they are working on getting retail outlets very soon. I hope that happens and I wish Lola's Cookies the best of luck. They have my two yum's up vote for sure.
