A few weeks ago after seeing the dramatic Anish Kapoor installation at the Grand Palais, I was struck by the beauty of the imposing female statues lining the front of it. The allegorical statues were a group collaboration by sculptors Paul Gasq, Camille Lefèvre, Alfred Boucher, Alphonse-Amédée Cordonnier, and Raoul Verlet. Four massive bronze sculptures by Georges Récipon grace the four corners of the Grand Palais and the one shown below depicts Immortality Prevailing over Time. Also the trees surrounding the Grand Palais were in full bloom so I captured many of the statues peeking through the crisp green leaves.
