Exploring a theme is sometimes a good way to sharpen your vision … about many things. My creative theme for the past few years has been about time. Paris is truly a timeless place … a defiant and elegant integration of past, present, and future. Paris is also (for me) a seductive invitation to bend and expand and liberate time—not only to live every moment, but also to live adventurously and fully between the moments.
Recently, I’ve added space and dimension to my theme (giving real meaning to the phrase “I’m no Einstein”). I go out seeking mass and matter that mysteriously or cleverly moves from one plane into another or bounces back and forth as space-defying light and energy. This concept is difficult to articulate and even more challenging to capture in images. But I continue on my quest to upend the stable and static parts of my life (as well as anything that’s been written as an equation). Because at this moment, my theme is about being set free.
