Les Grandes Eaux Nocturnes at Versailles was a night to
remember. Each fountain, already so beautiful, became even more of an art form.
And the soft lights along the paths made the 17th century gardens
even more of a fairyland.
We waited patiently for the “starting gun” as a gentle human
fence held us back on the terrace until 9 p.m. Then, accompanied by a symphonic
crescendo, a setting sun, and a million tiny machine-made bubbles, we were set
free into a world of spraying water, primordial gurgles, dancing colors, and
plumes of fire.
It was, indeed magical. And you almost forgot that you were there with thousands of magic lovers (and only two restrooms).
