It may be gray winter skies in Paris but the Stephen Sprouse windows at the flagship Louis Vuitton shop are brightening the Champs Elysees with a riot of dayglo colors and black graffiti scrawl. Hot pink, fluorescent green, and shout out orange burst on to T-shirts, swimsuits, jeans, shoes and bags. As you all know I am a sneaker freak, and I am coveting the high tops with orange mesh, black patent straps, and bright green trim. The spring line is Marc Jacob's homage to late Stephen Sprouse, who was a mentor and an inspiration to him.
Sprouse is also being feted with a show at the Deitch Projects Gallery in New York and a new coffee table titled The Stephen Sprouse Book with a forward by Tama Janowitz.
I still own a Sprouse bathing suit in black spandex with hot pink lettering on it from the 1980's but I will not admit whether it still fits or not.
