This is the beautiful courtyard entrance for the Emannuel Perrotin Gallery at 76 rue de Turenne. I captured the divine ivy in all its foliage splendor on the sidewall of the courtyard. The gallery represents top contemporary artists and the current show is Pharell Williams Perspective. I love the entrance making stairway on both sides with its ornate wrought iron railing and the finely detailed framed sculpture of musclemen fighting off the lions. Can anybody come up with a good name for gorgeous goddess holding the water jug on her shoulder?

What shall we name her?

I am pleased as punch to announce the launch of Eye Prefer Paris Tours, which are 3-hour walking tours I will personally be leading. The Eye Prefer Paris Tour includes many of the places I have written about such as small museums & galleries, restaurants, cafes & food markets, secret addresses, fashion & home boutiques, parks, and much more.
I look forward to meeting you on my tours and it will be my pleasure and delight to show you my insiders Paris.

FYI-She may be "Egeria" - mythological water nymph and the wife of Numa Pompilius, second king of Rome. We have a statue of Egeria here in Cincinnati's historic Spring Grove Cemetery. Then again, she may just be a water-bearing slave girl!!!

PS-Congratulations to the Obama/Biden ticket - may the dollar continue to recover against the Euro so that more of us can travel to Paris...

Hi Richard,
I think YOU actually already named this "Gorgeous Goddess". She's obviously G.G. = an American interpretation of the most classically gorgeous Parisian of all.

Cheryl

Not sure about the English, but in French, they are usually called Danaïdes (http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danaides). Thanks for reminding me about Perrotin, I haven't been since it's no longer in the 13th arrondissement!
