My friend, the very talented photographer Katrin Baumann, had a birthday party for one of her close friends at her atelier last Saturday night. I had been there only once a few years ago and never noticed the special courtyard to her studio. Located in Montmartre on rue Eugene Carriere, a quiet street off the Lamarck Caulaincourt metro, it’s more of a long alleyway than a courtyard that leads to Katrin’s atelier.
There are these wonderful murals with country scenes and the blue doors on them are so lifelike you would swear they were real. One of them had a bicycle and potted geraniums next to it and I felt like it was a little piece of Provence in the middle of Paris. It was a crisp night at about 9PM when I took the photos and the famed Paris light bathed the courtyard.

I am pleased as punch to announce the launch of Eye Prefer Paris Tours, which are 3-hour walking tours I will personally be leading. The Eye Prefer Paris Tour
includes many of the places I have written about such as small museums & galleries, restaurants, cafes & food markets, secret addresses, fashion & home boutiques, parks, and much more.
I look forward to meeting you on my tours and it will be my pleasure and delight to show you my insiders Paris.

One of the numerous hidden secrets one can endlessly discover in Paris.
Personnally, I feel very lucky to be working in such a lovely environment.
I passed this alley for years before noticing the blue walls. Intrigued I walked in, 2 months later I was establishing my studio there.
