I know you’ve all lost sleep wondering what the sequel is to our Sainte Chapelle adventure.
After lunch, Polly said she wanted to go to the flower market on the quais de la Magisserie (next to the pet shops/animalerie I wrote about on Monday). She must have read my mind because we passed the flower market before we met and I commented to Vincent that I had to come back so I could do a story about the gorgeous spring flowers at the market.
The abundance of flowers overflowing out of every flat and pot and the riot of color overwhelming my eyes was sensational. Polly purchased potted (boy, that’s a mouthful of p’s) morning glories, lobelia, and lavender and my last email from her said the morning glories were growing faster than she could plant them. Vincent and I decided we needed to spruce up our window boxes since the geraniums we planted last week were feeling lonely. We chose sage and lavender so maybe it would overpower the roasted chicken fumes from the outdoor rotisserie downstairs at the butcher shop. Polly gave us some tips on planting since the only gardening experience either one of us has is cutting the stems on flowers. I hope you are not getting tired of my flower photos but they are just too good to pass up.
A note on Polly’s version of our Sunday:
We finally made it through the metal detector and experienced the mini-frisson of being frisked by the handsomest of the two gendarme security guards. At least one of us wanted to return for a repeat performance. I'm not telling who.
I was the one fantasizing about the gendarme frisking me again and then demanding a strip search.
