Meredtih got swept away by the Chinese new Years festivities.
The Year of the Rat came in with a bang. Noisy parades all around town. Firecrackers, drums, sticks, gongs. The audience so large, they pushed into the streets for a better view, leaving just a tiny path for the stars of the show.
Rising above the din and the pressing crowds were the elegantly costumed people. Chinese pride. Rich in tradition and grace. Shy smiles. Intense eyes. Painted faces. Animated colored cloth flying in the wind. True beauty.
The spirit was contagious. Confetti everywhere … and I wore it in my hair and on my clothes, proudly, for the rest of the day.
Here’s to the Year of the Rat, a time of hard work, activity, and renewal. Bonne Année!
