The Cannes Film Festival was always a glamorous fascination for me, so I decided to checkout Cannes and see what all the fuss was about.
More upscale and compact than Nice, I walked the famous Croisette(beach promenade) expecting to spot a famous celebrity babe in a bikini but no such luck. The best reminder of the festival was a staircase that had each year’s winner etched in between the steps. I passed the legendary Carlton Hotel where all the stars stay during the festival and all the chic designer boutiques like Hermes, Cartier, Dior, and Chanel. I enjoyed lunch in a nouvelle Asian restaurant , appreciating the view of the crowdless beach. As this was my last day on the Cote d’ Azur, I was sorry I didn’t have more time to explore Cannes.
I want to thank Katherine and Jeroen at the Hotel Windsor for taking such good care of me during my stay and I highly recommend the hotel if you are planning to go to Nice.
When writing a blog, one never knows the impact you have on other people out in cyberspace. A reader, Tom Barnhart, who was my mortgage broker from New York, posted a touching comment, saying because of my blog, he got in touch again with his old college roommate from France who he had not seen in over 16 years. You can read the comment by clicking on to “comments” on the bottom of the Oh, So Nice post.

Hi Richard,
Boy have you moved on since the days of the book club!!! What lovely shots - I was so impressed with the pics that I wanted to hop a plane after reading your itineraries.
You are missed in NY, but I gather you haven't looked back.
Thanks so much for the update
All the best,
Glo
