Although I’ve listed Maison & Objet on my Eye Need to Do’s for a number of years, I’ve actually never attended. It’s always piqued my curiosity but somehow I never got there so last week I went for the first time.
Billed as the top trade show for the home design industry, it has an international roster of home design companies along with buyers and press.
Maison & Objet is located about 30 minutes outside of Paris near Charles de Gaulle airport at Paris Nord Villepinte, a venue for major trade shows. It’s divided into 14 sectors for home design, tabletop, home fragrances, fashion, kids, arts and crafts, cook and design, and a Paris inspired home gallery.
I was most interested in the home design galleries and there were many furniture companies that setup multi-room displays with fully decorated rooms. My favorite pavilion had the home décor branches of fashion designers including Missoni, Armani Casa, and Ralph Lauren.
The show is overwhelming in size and too much to do in one day or one shot. I stayed for about three hours until I was visually over stimulated by all the beautiful things I saw and wanted.
In case Maison & Objet didn’t have enough vendors, there’s an off shoot show named Paris Deco Off, which takes place in the Paris design district in Saint Germain and specializes in home textiles. I visited a Facebook friend who I never met before, Sandra Jordan, who has a small company Prima Alpaca that imports the most beautiful home fabrics and textiles made of alpaca from South America.
There were many parties and events in Paris for Maison & Objet including a ball at the Hotel de Ville and a brunch at the flea market.
Maison & Objet happens twice a year and the next show is in September 2016. There are branches of the show in Miami and Singapore.

Each mailing will include two postcards in color and one in black & white or sepia, beautifully packaged in a special French Blue postcard holder with a custom designed seal.
Each 6” X 4.25” traditional size postcard is printed on thick matte coated card stock, similar to traditional vintage postcard stock that enhances the vibrancy of every image.
