In 2011 I wrote about a fabulous shop named Heaven in the Marais, where owner Lee-Anne Wallis designed and hand made the clothing and some of the accessories. Unfortunately, Lee-Ann closed the shop last year but the good news is, she now has private atelier down the street.
For many months I passed the empty storefront and missed bringing tour clients to see her Lee-Anne’s unique designs and her radiant smile. I was curious what new shop would come in its place.
About two months ago I saw that a new jewelry, clothing, and accessory store had opened, Lorina Baltneau. Peering into the window, I noticed some lovely, delicate jewelry that appeared to be a mixture of lace and beading. Inside the shop there was an expanded selection of the necklaces, bracelets and earrings in addition to clothing and handbags appliqued in the same exquisite technique.
Lorina Baltneau, the owner, told me it was called Frivolité (tatting in English), an ancient lacemaking technique and that she updated the technique to include beads and stones. Her original shop in Saint Germain on rue Dauphine only carries the jewelry and the Marais store, along with jewelry and handbags, exclusively stocks the collection of dresses, blouses and tops in sumptuous fabrics such as silk, jersey and cashmere. The collection is also sold in luxury outlets around the world including Fortnum and Mason in London.
Prices for the earrings start at about 85€ and depending on the intricacy, go up to 300€. Beaded purses and handbags start at 350€ and clothing starts at 350€.
I am so happy another beautiful shop with hand made items has replaced Heaven.
