Toto, I’ve got a feeling we’re not in Paris anymore. C’est vrai. It’s August. Vacation time. I’ve flown the coop and am enjoying the fog of my California home away from home, Pacific Grove. And the sojourn always includes the mesmerizing jellyfish of the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
I can spend hours with the jellies. They are such graceful free floaters, with trailing tentacles as elegant as bridal lace or Maypole ribbons. They can do slow motion back somersaults; can encircle themselves with, well, themselves; and can propel their glowing umbrella-shaped bodies with effortless pulses.
They become dancers, fluffy clouds, and feathery curtains blowing in the wind. All this and bioluminescence to boot. They have it all.
If you’ve never been on a jellyfish high, try it. You’ll like it. Bonnes Vacances.
