Friday Night Fever Text & Photos by Meredith Mullins
Friday nights were made for the wild at heart. And in the summertime, in a country where liberté is a part of history and creed, the Friday-night party spills into the streets, sucks in the sultry air, and lets the sparks fly where they may. The pied piper of the Pont St Louis lights up the sky with his elaborate set, revolutionary rants, and hypnotic music. The 3,000-strong roller tour swooshes through the city, like a giant rumbling multi-wheeled train. And the dancers (and movers and shakers) on the bridges and quais are swept into primordial sync with the rhythms of the night. Rant on. Swoosh on. Rhyme on. Wildness is a virtue.
