Today is the third anniversary of Eye Prefer Paris. It's been a fantastic, exciting, and unpredictable joyride for the last three years and I have no intention of getting off of it.
513 posts later, I still love the joy, passion, creativity, inspiration, and challenge of producing Eye Prefer Paris four times a week. It's interesting, I sometimes read that bloggers have trouble consistently finding new things to write about and it's the opposite for me. If I had the time I could write something everyday about this amazing city and still have tons to write about. I have hundreds of photos backlogged to yet post.
I think Eye Prefer Paris has evolved more into an online travel magazine about Paris rather than still being a blog. Let me know if you agree.
I have never put a photo of my self on my sidebar (although I have posted a few photos of myself in my stories) because in the last three years I have not had one photo taken of me that truly captured me in Paris. A spontaneous photo by a tour client who insisted on having me put on a beret ended up being the perfect photo.
What do you think? You like?
I want to thank and acknowledge my readers and subscribers- 2111 of you- who take time out of their busy schedules to read what I write. After all what is a writer without an audience? I also appreciate the emails and comments you send me, many which are quite inspiring and most kind.
One important question I would love for you to answer:
What is your favorite thing about Eye Prefer Paris?
I raise a flute of Champagne to the third anniversary of Eye Prefer Paris and please join me in a toast to Paris. Clink!
Below is my first post from June 26, 2006. I hope I have fulfilled what I set out to do.
About This blog
This blog is about how a native New Yorker dreamed of moving to Paris …… and what he discovered once he got there. Come live this Paris dream vicariously through the eyes(and ears) of Richard Nahem. He writes his blog from his 18th century apartment overlooking tree-lined Place St. Paul in the fashionable Marais district of Paris.
Three years later I still write my blog on my Mac in front of this window with a lovely garden view. As I tell all my friends who come over, this is where all that blog magic happens.

Richard, Happy 3rd Anniversary. Thank you for consistently coming up with amazing and interesting stories, sites, information. You truly capture the magic of Paris. What do I like most about your blog? I would say that even though I live in Miami, when I sign on I feel like I am really there. To be honest, on some days, your blog really brightens up my day and keeps my love of Paris feeling a little closer.

Love the photo! It's a keeper. I love your blog because you find out of the way places to explore and tell us about. I also like the interviews you do with real Parisians.

What is your favorite thing about Eye Prefer Paris?
Spending time with you. I like you. And so I enjoy your opinion about what you see, do, eat, etc. That is why I enjoy it, it is YOUR voice.
Now in that, I also really enjoy the doors of the month and the shop windows. I really enjoy the articles about Parisians ( and transplants ) who are doing some thing with food. Paris is huge about food and it is an every day art for all of us to enjoy. Galleries are special but we eat at least 3 times a day!
Thanks for letting me live with you :-)

Congratulations! You made it. I'm happy for you. I love the carefreeness of Paris. I don't worry about what people think when I'm there.

I love your very fresh and modern ‘point of view’ as well as the places you go and the photos you take!
Although I’m not in Paris when I read your blog…I feel like I am waking up to a little bit of it.

What do I like about your blog? Why do I read it? Your information is interesting and your pictures are excellent. You often cover a portion of Paris that I was never involved in when I lived there...food and restaurants and I see that I missed quite a lot. I like your picture and congratulate you on your three years...continue on

Mes félicitations! And many, many thanks for the Paris joy you´ve brought your readers with your photos and informative writing on what is, in my mind and experience, the loveliest, most fascinating city in the world.
I, for one, bless you for keeping my Paris light shining until my return a couple of weeks ago.

Congratulations on the 3rd anniversary
As a native parisian what I like the most about the blog, is how much I discover from my own city reading it. It's fascinating to see how little I know from paris and to discover all those hidden treasure that you find.

Richard,
This is the first time that I've learned your name. I just refer to you as the Paris Guy! I've been a subscriber for, oh, I think a year now and I am happy to say yours is always the blog I read every day. It makes me happy. I love your photos (and the photos of Meredith), your profiles, your food - oh, I really love your photos of restaurants, cafes, and the windows of bakeries. I have never been to Paris but you bring Paris to me every day and I hope one day to visit your wonderful city. Thanks for your enthusiasm and good work

Well, my dear Richard, my most favorite thing about Eye Prefer Paris, is you! It is your charm, wit, and incredible style that makes Eye Prefer Paris my favorite morning read. While reading stories from others who cross your path, it is yours, that I (‘eye’) prefer. Your eyes, ears, sense of taste, and smell, recreate the Paris that I adore and miss every single day. You just bring it a little closer to me, even if only for a few minutes. You allow me to be there and to dream.
Thank you for being there every day. Congratulations to you and I lift my glass in your honor. Salut!

I can not recall when I began getting your Eye Prefer Paris, but I love each and every email. I particularly love the photography. The doors for example, are always refreshingly beautiful. I travel to Paris once a year, sometimes for just a stop over before I go on to other parts of Europe, or like in March when I came for a month just to get away from responsibility. I usually come after the first of the ,and seldom come to Europe in the Summer. Your emails enhance my knowledge of the city, and keep me in the mood to go to Paris.
I am not sure how I can assist you, but believe in some manner I should as you add much to my life and travels.

I especially appreciate your enthusiasm and obvious love of Paris that permeates all that you write about. The pictures are wonderful too. One of our great pleasures is planning our trips to Paris and your information has been invaluable.
THANK YOU.
