Kris Van Assche, the newly appointed creative director at Dior Homme, has designed a garden tableau, complete with canvas stools and blankets for a picnic, in front of Le Grand Epicerie at Bon Marché. The setting is lovely, filled with peonies, camellias, jasmine, lavender, and hydrangeas. Tall twig trellises give the display height and a low wall of thick branches encloses the space. The special designed 5 course menu for 18 euros includes an hibiscus biscuit, flower salad, and a flower flavored macaroon.

Tea for Two
I was about to partake in the festivities, but the thought of sprawling myself horizontally on a tea towel on the sidewalk covered by a thin layer of grass and having hundreds of pedestrians ogling me eating a fussy lunch, was not my idea of a good time. Imagine have a sidewalk picnic on a Saturday afternoon in front of Macy’s Herald Square. I’d rather not.
In a much publicized fashion drama earlier this year, Kris Van Assche replaced Hedi Slimane, the longtime reigning king of Dior Homme.
